Deflections in magnet fringe fields.
A transverse multipole expansion is derived, including the longitudinal components necessarily present in regions of varying magnetic field profile. It can be used for exact numerical orbit following through the fringe-field regions of magnets whose end designs introduce no extraneous components, i.e., fields not required to be present by Maxwell's equations. Analytic evaluations of the deflect...
متن کاملSolenoid Fringe Field Effects for the Neutrino Factory
International Design Study for the Neutrino Factory (IDS-NF) assumes the first stage of muon acceleration (up to 900 MeV) to be implemented with a solenoid based Linac. The Linac consists of three styles of cryo-modules, containing focusing solenoids and varying number of SRF cavities for acceleration. Fringe fields of the solenoids and the focusing effects in the SRF cavities have significant ...
متن کاملAnalytic Estimation of the Non-linear Tune Shift Due to the Quadrupole Magnet Fringe Field
Analytic expressions for the amplitude-dependent tune shift driven by the quadrupole magnet fringe field have been obtained. The magnitude of the effect is compared with other sources of non-linearity such as chromatic sextupoles, octupole errors of the main quadrupole magnetic field and kinematic terms. A numerical example was the calculation on the lattice of the VEPP-4M e+e− collider.
متن کاملSuperimposed Fringe Projections for 3D Shape Acquisition by Image Analysis
The aim of this work is the development of an image analysis technique for 3D shape acquisition, based on luminous fringes projections. More in detail the method is based on the simultaneous use of several projectors, which is desirable whenever the surface under inspection has a complex geometry, with undercuts or shadow areas. In these cases, the usual fringe projection technique needs to per...
متن کاملHigh-order map treatment of superimposed cavities, absorbers, and magnetic multipole and solenoid fields
Various modern systems for the transport and manipulation of large acceptance beams of rare and short-lived particles require the treatment of nonlinear optics of acceleration, absorption, and focusing in a combined approach. We describe a differential algebraic method for the treatment of such nonlinear dynamics via high-order transfer maps. We include the processes of scattering and stragglin...
